Jesus said, “Well done. Thy good and faithful servant.”
Georgiana Rose Moore, “Mom-Mom” age 88, entered her eternal home on June 29th, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville, PA surrounded by her family until her last breath.
Georgie was born on May 7, 1937 in Maple Shade, NJ to Wallace N. and Florence (Wiest) Mayhew. She was married on June 2, 1956 to the love of her life, David Moore.
Mom-Mom was known for her fabulous hospitality. She made enough food for an army, despite 10 people coming to dinner. She was famous for her “homemade bread.” One of her favorite hobbies was making patchwork quilts, which was a tradition that was started by her mother, Florence and is being continued by her daughter, Janice.
Mom-Mom worked at Stan Cassels Greenhouse in Chalfont, PA, Snyders Greenhouse in Leck Kill, PA and Schwalms Greenhouse in Sunbury, PA. Her love for flowers was demonstrated in her numerous flowerbeds around her home on Didiums Lane in Shamokin, PA. Mom-Mom faithfully planted salmon colored impatients each year.
Georgie spoke frequently about her first car, a powdered blue convertible. Some of her greatest adventures were camping across the US with her husband, children and close family. She also told everyone about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was overjoyed when she received the news of her oldest daughter’s pregnancy and told everyone that she was a grandmother of triplet girls. She was a Mom-Mom to so many beyond her immediate family. Her stories were endless and the love she gave each of us was unconditional.
Jesus and Pop-Pop welcomed our Mom-Mom into paradise with open arms. She certainly will be missed by so many, but we can confidently say that we “will see you again!” “For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom. 6:23
Georgiana is proceeded in death by her husband, David Moore. She is survived by three daughters, Cindy (Roy) Maurer of Dalmatia, PA, Barabara (David) Wambold of Quakertown, PA and Janice (Dan) Rebuck of Shamokin, PA. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Alex) Erney, Alicia (Craig) Varney, Danny (Kimberly) Rebuck, Benjamin (Tanya) Wambold, Kali Maurer, Kelli Maurer and Kira Maurer and is survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Chase, Mia, Cole, Lacey, Casen, Jackson, Hunter, Emma, Axel and Connor. She is survived by one brother, Laurie (Shirley) Mayhew. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Some of her special memories with her great grandchildren that she frequently spoke about were when she visited Jordan and Mia and they welcomed her with open arms, excited to have her spend a few nights at their house. She spoke about how sweet and a “little lady” Lacey acts, how Emma is a loving little “spitfire” and Jack being her puzzle buddy. Mom-Mom always commented how Chase was an amazing big brother, how Cole always embraced her with a big hug and Casen making famous quotes to her, stating, “I don’t like you Mom-Mom. I love you.” She loved how Hunter is a spitting image of his dad, her grandson. She recently spoke about attending Axels kindergarten graduation and how excited she was to get a picture with him. Axel always reached for Mom-Mom’s hand and held her hand tight as they walked together. Mom-Mom’s last baby, Connor was super special to her. She constantly talked about her adorable 2-year-old.
