Lori Lorraine (Snyder) Scandle, 64, of Mechanicsburg, passed away unexpectedly at her daughter’s residence on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Lori was born on November 8, 1960 in Sunbury, she was the daughter of Ruth Lorraine (Lenig) Snydermull and the late Guy Jefferson “Jeff” Snyder Jr.
Lori held many different jobs throughout her life and no matter what the job, she worked her hardest and did it to best of her ability. Throughout her life she drove school bus, worked at a bakery, cared for older disabled residents, and began working toward her dream job in nursing. Lori worked as an LPN for many years before retiring, after which she began driving school bus again, often bringing her granddaughter, Reesey, along for the ride.
Outside of working many jobs, Lori was a faithful member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg. Her faith in God brought her through many devastating moments including the loss of her oldest child, Joshua Levi. It was this faith that gave her strength to be there for her remaining children, grandchildren, and countless family members. She passed this beautiful faith to her children, who will continue to praise in her name.
Lori was multitalented and fiercely independent. She excelled at DIY projects and had an incredible green thumb as she brought dying plants back to life and created beautiful spaces all around her beloved home. Gardening gave her peace…and was great cardio! Lori was a phenomenal baker known for her delicious and beautiful cakes as she created unique wedding, birthday, baby/bridal shower cakes.
Lori was also a talented writer who wrote beautifully with her whole heart, those who read her letters and prayers could feel her love and all of the feelings she put into them. Lori was also a gifted piano player, who played in her Lenig Cousin's Group as well as at school and for her children and family at home. She was often heard humming church hymns while she worked around the house. She was also known for her hilarious pronunciations, singing, and Sasquatch calls. Her big laugh will be missed by all those who knew her and had the blessing of hearing it.
While she excelled at so many things, the thing Lori did best was love and cherish her family. She was the kindest, most gentle soul and would do anything for anyone. Lori did without asking and without expecting anything in return. She was truly a beautiful woman filled with love for all those around her, especially her 6Js and all the beautiful grandchildren that she was blessed with.
Lori will be fondly remembered by her mom, Ruth. Her children (lovingly referred to as the 6Js) 5 of whom live on in her memory: Jamilee Elizabeth and her significant other Ben (and children), Josiah Matthew, Jacob Lee, Jeffrey David and his fiancé Taralyn, and Janee’ Lorraine. She also fiercely loved her amazing siblings, Gylene Ann and significant other, Maureen as well as Guy (Butch) Jefferson and his wife Tina. Step siblings Kevin and Linda. Lori was also blessed with grandchildren: Jasmine Ann, Julia Elizabeth, Kolby Jacob, Kamden Joshua, Maddix Jacob, Antonio, Ryla Joy, and Reese Lori Lorraine, who will remember her for being so fun, kind, and caring. She was also blessed to have one great grandchild, Sage Ann. Her niece and nephew, Hayley and Guy (Digger) will also keep her memory alive as well as countless cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family.
Lori was preceded in death by her kind and gentle grandmother, Margeret Irene (Hoch) and husband, Guy Jefferson Snyder Sr. as well as Ralph and Lena (Long) Lenig. Her loving father, Jeff Snyder and stepmother Mary (Keim) as well as her first born child (the first J) Joshua Levi and his first child Lily Ann.
