Marjorie A. (Latsha) Derck, 89, was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Pittsboro Christian Village after a brief struggle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Trevorton, PA, to George and Lydia (Leader) Latsha. She lived in West Cameron most of her life. She worked various jobs as a secretary earlier in life and as a van driver for Line Mountain School District until she moved to Pittsboro Christian Village, Pittsboro, NC, in 2014, along with her late husband Elwood Derck.
She trusted in the Lord Jesus as her Savior as a teenager and was devoted to her Lord Jesus Christ, faithfully attending West Cameron Gospel Hall every Sunday and weeknight service while living in West Cameron. After moving to Pittsboro, NC, she attended the Christian Assembly in Zebulon, NC, and enjoyed happy fellowship with those who worshipped there.
On August 11, 1956, she married Elwood Derck in Hunter’s Station, PA, while he was on leave from the Army.
She is survived by her three children: David Derck, Reisterstown, MD; Faith (Kevin) Geiger, York, PA; and Jason (Megan Pashel) Derck, Los Angeles, CA, and baby granddaughter Violet Ann Pashel Derck. She is also survived by her brother George Ralph (Eleanor) Latsha, Manheim, PA. She was predeceased by two brothers, Calvin Latsha and Robert “Brownie” (Janet) Latsha, and one sister, Catherine (Harlan) Rebuck.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Foust Funeral Home, LLC. 841 W. Shamokin St. Trevorton, with a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. A memory tribute may be placed at www.foustcares.com.
