Robert "Bob" R. Mengle

Robert Russell “Bob” Mengle, 75, affectionately known by many as “Bobby,” passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2026.

Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, on May 13, 1951, Bob lived most of his life in Schuylkill Haven, Orwigsburg, and Pottsville. He graduated from Pottsville High School in 1969.

Bob worked at Argo Mills from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s as a knitter and mechanic. He later worked on the maintenance staff at East Penn Manufacturing until his retirement.

Bob loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and fixer of all things, always willing to lend a hand when something needed repairing or someone needed help. His joy of tinkering, fixing, and figuring things out was passed down to many in his family and will remain one of the many ways he is remembered.

After the passing of his wife, Jane, Bob found love again with Kae. Through their marriage, his family grew larger and closer, bringing more children and grandchildren into his life and giving him even more people to love, support, and quietly care for in his own steady way.

Bob is survived by his wife, Kae (Eldridge) Mengle; his son, Scott (Donna) Mengle; his stepchildren, Annie Edwards, James (Becky) Shirer, and Sarah (Dan) Fridirici; his grandchildren, Amanda, Zoe, Marley, Abby, Elizabeth, Grace, Parker, Jaxson, and Owen; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Susan (Albert) Lishman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Harry Mengle and Ida Mae Mengle; his wife, Jane (Demanczyk) Mengle; and his sister, Carol (Mengle) Petruno.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 23 Meadowbrook Center, 23 Meadowbrook Drive, Schuylkill Haven, PA. Guests may arrive after 6:00 PM, with the service beginning at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside SPCA in Pottsville, PA.
