Virginia “Ginny” L. McWilliams

Virginia “Ginny” Lavinia McWilliams, 98, of Gowen City, passed on Monday, April 14, 2025. Virginia was the widow of Steve Gladek and Robert McWilliams. Born on September 18, 1926 in Gowen City, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Evelyn (Weikel) Troxell.

Virginia was a graduate of Shamokin Area High School, Class of 1944. She went on to attend Empire Beauty School, and owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years before retiring. Even after retirement, Virginia remained active, working at Knoebels for several years. A talented quilter and dedicated crafter, she found great joy in creating with her hands. Virginia was a devoted member of St. Paul's UCC in Gowen City, where she served on the consistory and was active in the women's guild. She was also a committed member of the East Cameron Fire Company Auxiliary and served as a Judge of Election for the East Cameron Fire Company. Above all, Virginia deeply cherished the time she spent with her beloved family.

Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Christine Anderson, Roberta McWilliams and Kimberly (Brian) Dimmick; grandchildren, Kay Denesevich, Keene (Martha) Bixler, Steven (Christine) Jacoby, Virginia (Ken) Pawelczyk, Megan (Cody) Romanoskie, and Matt Dimmick; 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Bixler; brothers, Kenneth, Thomas, and Dale Troxell and sister, Joyce Lundy.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Foust Funeral Home, LLC, 841 W. Shamokin St. Trevorton, with a visitation from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Officiating will be pastor Kathleen Kinney. A memory tribute may be placed at www.foustcares.com.
